What that the D: drive the OD? Did you take out the drive and slide it back in to see if it is detected? Could be your drive is no longer working?

    Various thoughts:

    1. Does it show up in Device Manager if you right-click on your computer and select Scan for Hardware Changes?

    2. Does it show up under Computer Management > Disk Management? If so, perhaps you need to allocate a drive letter.

    3. See Microsoft's troubleshooter and particularly the UpperFilters / LowerFilters issue. If my memory is correct, that issue could be triggered by repeated read errors.

Go start menu, and select the RUN command.

    Type in diskmgmt.msc

See if your DVD drive shows up in the list (it will say CD-ROM)

If it doesn't, then the drive is not getting power, or is not connecting with the motherboard. That could mean it's dead.
