I just upgraded the combo drive in my HP NX6125 to a DVD writer. If anyone is interested here is how I did it. Total install/upgrade time about 10 mins.

    Tools used:
    1. Philips screw driver #0
    2. Trox screw driver T8
    3. 1 Panasonic UJ-850D dvd writer. 12.5mm slim type DVDRW.
    4. paper clip
    5. HP service manual

    Procedure:
    1. Ground yourself, turn laptop on its back, unplug power cable and remove battery.
    2. Remove 2 screws holding down ram cover and remove said cover. This gives you access to the trox screw that secures the combo drive.
    3. Use T8 to remove trox screw.
    4. Straigten out a paper clip and insert into media tray release hole and release the media tray.
    5. Hold media tray and slide out combo drive.
    6. Remove latch at the back of the old drive and install on new optical drive. Just 2 small philip screws.
    7. Reverse process to install new drive.

Upon powering on the laptop, Windows automatically recognized the drive. No need for drivers. I then installed Nero and burned a DVD. Worked perfectly. :D
