I have always had my PC boot up at 7 am each morning and a macro program starts certain tasks. Now I am using my laptop (Toshiba L505D) to do same but I have to manually start it.
The laptop has nothing in the BIOS (like my PC had) that allows me to select this feature. Is there an aftermarket program that will allow me to auto start my laptop.

A program cannot do this (it won't be running, after all). The BIOS needs to support it.
Only way is to sleep the computer and use the task manager to do what you need (wake up and then run the required tasks).
Good luck. -
Might be able to setup something with WOL
Configure Wake on Wireless LAN (WoWLAN)
Turn On Your PC With Android via WiFi Network [Wake On Wireless Lan]
WOL can be used to do many things but have never tried to set it up as an autoloader combined. Possibly try a WOL then have a script run or scheduler
NOTE: yes your hardware needs to support WOL as well but I find most current systems dotilleroftheearth and katalin_2003 like this. -

KCETech1,
Good tip! If the router supports some programming (like, for example Asus routers do with the RMerlin firmware installed) - then this could be made 'automatic' again.
See:
Asuswrt-Merlin - custom firmware for Asus routers - SmallNetBuilder Forums
At least this method may give results (if pursued long enough) - while waiting for a mobile (BIOS) update will probably never happen.

Thanks for the posts, Before I buy an ASUS router I would like to try working with putting the laptop in sleep mode but need help setting up the task manager to do the waking. Is there a tutorial that can help with that? The macro only needs to see the laptop booting and runs automatically.
Many thanks... -
Set your computer to sleep. Then use Windows Task Scheduler to set up the task to be run, then make sure your power profile under advanced settings is set to "allow wake timers".
Then you can set it up to run those tasks automagically.
Windows Task Scheduler is very powerful and can be set to run with administrator privileges. I use it frequently with my WHS 2011. -
Worked great, thanks for the info.
Is there anything I need to know about leaving my laptop on Stand-By overnight. -
I set up Task Manager to turn on laptop from stand by each morning at 7am. Then 5 mins later a macro program started a data collection program. This worked fine even with screen closed then 9 am I opened the screen and the data collection program works fine.
After a few days I'm finding that now the data collection program quits after about 15 mins and it disconnects from the internet. I open the screen and it re-connects to the internet.
Any suggestions please.
EDIT:
Please disregard,
Today it ran perfectly,
Go figure....
Thanks
