I am new to this site so i'm not sure if I put this in the right forum or not so if it's in the wrong one I apologize in advance. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop that I spilled beer on. Immediately after it happened I tilted it upside down and let it drain out. But I thought it would be fine and didn't do anything else. The next day it was having problems some of the keys weren't functioning properly and some keys were randomly typing themselves without me pushing them down. But I removed the keyboard and found liquid underneath so I cleaned it with a cloth then put the keyboard back in but the problems still proceeded. Can anyone offer me some advice on how I can fix this or what my best options would be? Thank you for your time.

Does the laptop work normally with an external keyboard connected and the internal keyboard removed? Your internal keyboard is probably bad...

Don't drink beer when you're at the computer.

Seriously, the liquid is completing the circuit. When it dries sufficiently it should shop though there might still be some friction from the chemicals in the beer (was it light beer?).

Anyway, I feel your pain (spilled 16oz of gaterade onto my laptop) but also hope this taught you a good lesson. I did me. I now keep all my beverages BELOW my laptop/keyboard. Good luck.

It was a bottle of bud light lol and yeah I learned my lesson it was the last thing I thought could happen... I'm just glad it didn't cause anything more serious. My laptop is fine I'm just without a keyboard at this point.

An easily replaced item (in most cases). At home I use external keyboard/mouse. Logitech transmitter stays plugged in all the time.

Depending on how lucky you're feeling, if you're sure the keyboard won't work anymore at all, you could dump it in some rubbing alcohol and let it sit for a bit, then dry it out by sitting in some uncooked rice.

    You can use external keyboard.
