I just bought a second hand D600 laptop with SXGA+ screen. The laptop is about 3 years old.

The screen works alright except it displays dark patches(1 large) at the bottom of middle section of the screen. The approx width is about 2in and not exactly round and gets fainter at the outer edges. The patches is faint but visible even when the I set the screen to max contrast. Could this due be a wear and tear of the LCD screen? or Can I get rid of this dark patches? Any advise would be welcome.

    Thanks.

unfortunately, it is not something you can get rid of. i have an old dell too that has these small dark circles....just what happens to old, not so good quality screens.
