    hi guys

is there any way that i can transfer data between my desktop and notebook (mainly because the data is too large to fit on CD or DVD) using some cable or something? none of my computers have bluetooth, so that option is out
    .

    any suggestions?

you can use external hard drive or you usb stick if you have... better yet just buy an external enclosure for both of desktop and notebook HD and just plug it in...

i have no idea if cable or something is possible...

You can use the 1394 port. Most laptops have it and it's real fast.(You can make networks using 1394 cable)
Of course you'll need to set the network settings.(in the tcp/ip you should set the default gateway for each of the computers to the other one.e.g : Computer A should set computer B as the default gateway and vice versa)

Flash Drives. Cheap and easy way to transfer data around.

Another suggestion, would just be use normal ethernet cables, just in case the notebook or desktop doesn't have a firewire (IEEE 1394) port. It takes abit or time, so it not be the best idea. Flash drives are also another thing you could do, and they are very cheap for large densities, like System64 mentioned.

Yeah, ethernet (or wireless) would be the easiest and fastest solution. That's what networks are for, transferring data from computer to computer. :)

It is also the cheapest solution, by far.

I just transfered about 30GB recently off my laptop to my parents desktop wirelessly. It took about 24 hours so I would recommend Ethernet if you have the cables. :p
