    Hiya hope some kind soul can help...

    Ive got an old dell laptop thats dying (slowly) it has a Hitachi 'Travelstar' Model: IC25N030ATCS04-0 Hard drive..

    How can i transfer the information off this hard drive to another machine? laptop or desktop?

    Cheapest way?

    Find a 16/32GB USB key for around $18 and transfer the data off the existing system.

    Once you're done transferring it to your other machine; the USB key is still usable.


    If you buy an external enclosure (or an IDE to USB adaptor...) you will spend at least as much money and you will probably never use it again for such a small/slow/hot 4200 RPM IDE drive like you have (well, especially if it's 'slowly dying', right?).
