I was reading online about dead pixels. Everyone's dreaded nightmare, but what is accepted as in "industry standard." Anyway, I bought a new LCD yesturday and I have been very pleased with it. Using dead pixel buddy I find one dead one, which wasn't bad at all, especially considering the native resolution is 1920 x 1200. Anyway let me get to the point, as I was reading about dead pixels online, I read about people lightly rubbing the dead pixel and it going away.
So I got out a microfiber cloth, and very gently rubbed the dead pixel and it actually went away! If you have a dead pixel, give it a shot, just rub very lightly, it won't always work. I tried it on a stuck pixel on my laptop but it didn't work.

thats cool will have to try that if i see any dead pix on my laptop.

Yea, I was surprised it worked. It worked on my desktop monitor, though not my laptop. If you do try it, just don't be persistent if the dead pixel doesn't come unstuck. If it works, it will become unstuck with very moderate pressure. I put as much pressure on as I would if I were trying to remove a fingerprint.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't noticed any on mine, but I also haven't really tried to find one. Out of sight, out of mind.

Yea, probably best not to look for them, lol. I tend to notice things like that to fast, it stinks.

It works! I witnessed a guy in service doing it twice on a same LCD! And It works ever since.

There are also programs out there that may help if rubbing with microfibre cloth doesn't work. The program rapidly flashes the screen with multiple colors to "kick start" stuck pixel(s).

Yes I heard that it can successfully repair up to 60% of dead pixels. That counts how many if you have only one?

Thanks for the suggestion, I tested my screen for dead pixels using DPB and found none.

very cool. i will be recieving my lappy very shortly. what programs do you guys suggest i use to find/remove the dead pixles?
-
Dead Pixel Buddy will show you any dead pixels on your screen although I'm too scared to use the application - I haven't seen any yet and I don't want them pointed out to me! If the pixel that is dead is a certain colour (I think blue or green although I can't quite remember) then you can sometimes get it working again by rubbing it.
Dead Pixel Tip.
