Even if manufacturers don't go with it you could probably apply it yourself as an aftermarket upgrade.
Also, what's to say manufacturers won't use it? I know for a fact that some sony laptops have an anti-glare coating on their screens. -

This would be fantastic but might not solve the being-hard-to-clean issue.
Anti-glare/matte screens are the way to go for all-around use.
