I think I have decided on a dell e1705. I have taken in the info you guys have given me (thanks) about all the notebooks and vid cards etc. I am pretty sure i will get the config with the 7800 go. However, my questions are: Should i upgrade to the 60 gb 7200 rpm drive...then get the external hd for more space...or should i stick with the 100 gb 5400 rpm drive. Second: would it be a better deal to buy the 512 mb ram 667 mhz from dell with the laptop, then purchase another 512-1 gb ram from somewhere else or just get 1gb ram from dell? Also, are their warranties even worth it?

i would vote for getting the 60g drive because you can always buy an external but the speed will cost you alot more later on. also because unless you are doing alot of stuff on your computer 60G should handle most all of it. and even if it doesnt you can buy and external. yup

i agree, it's always better to get the faster one for gaming. besides, external hard drive nowadays are fast, huge and really cheap. as for the RAMs, i would go for the 1GB as it's the min for a gaming machine.

Well i'm saying should i purchase the 1gb upgrade from dell at 667 mhz bus speed or should I get the 512 at 667 and purchase a stick of 512 or 1gb from ebay or newegg or something?

it depends, if you're familiar with the process of installing RAMs (i don't know how easy is that on the e1705) then there's no problem. Also depends on how much you'll be saving if you buy the RAMs separately.

thats more of an opionion i think. because some people prefer to just get it from dell so that it is covered with the warranty and there is no problems. but then it might be a bit cheaper if you buy it yourself. i would definatly upgrade to 1G if you havent already. anything less is outdated and will be really slow.
