    Hi,
I am a little confused why the Dedicated V memory is low in newer Intel HD 4000, I know that I can't do anything about it but I wonder why they have reduced it from HD 3000.
Total Available Memory Dedicated V Mem Shared System Mem
    HD 3000 1760MB 128MB 1632MB
    HD4000 1792 32MB 1760
Specs are in my sig, 5750 has HD3000.
Could someone please tell me whether it will reduce the performance in any way, Thanks.

It will not reduce proformance unless your running multiple displays vram helps with hi resolutions bigger then 1080p and multiple displays

Thanks Trickster28, I wonder why the newer HD4000 has 32MB while older HD3000 has 128MB video memory.

The amount of RAM allocated to the IGP is up to the manufacturer. Also, 32 GB is probably the minimum and more will be allocated to the IGP if necessary.

Yes the ram is dynamically allocated on the fly. This has not been a fixed amount for some time and the amount chosen on that option is a minimum.

Using IGP, the most it can "handle" and be effective is probably only 200-250MB total anyhow. Having that massive amount of memory available will do nothing. But on the positive side, at least they don't limit it to be a hindrance if it needs more.

Don't some laptop manufacturers allow you to configure how much RAM it can leech? I know alot of Dells will allow you to.

Some do, I know my alienware doesn't and my Optiplex doesn't, but my friend James has a desktop that allows it, but I don't know about any laptops I'm sure theres one or more though.

I swear to god don't be jealous RUN minecraft (press F3 to see FPS) on hers and yours more then likely (unless intel really did something wrong) yours will come out with the better framerate (turn vsync off in MInecraft video options just incase they make it over 60 fps but my friends little macbook pro 13" with 3000 graphics cant even hold 5 fps on our modpack (modpacks are harder to run so vanilla(non-modded) may vary)

please note you do not need the buy minecraft....you may just play the demo in single player

Its not good to be jealous i remember when i built my friends desktop he had 6 SATA IIIs and a 560 Ti i was jealous of that Ti my two 460s in my alien were a tad slower then his all it was....was pain and frustration so i decided to let it go and focus on what i had better :) my i7 could kill his i3 anyday so could my glossy display then 6 months later i got these 780Ms so it all worked out. If you really wanna be better then your daugher then upgrade your laptop in other parts maybe give it an SSD or some extra ram and overall you will be better.....if you give it more ram btw your shared system memory with the vram will increase
