Recently, I bought an OEM T9500 SLAYX Penryn CPU in order to upgrade my Vaio SZ780E. The T9500 is supposed to work fine with my Vaio, but it is not recognized by system bios. Since the old CPU (T8300 Penryn, 800mhz fsb) still works fine, I guess that the mainboard is not a problem. Does this mean that the T9500 is faulty? Any ideas?

    You saw this where?

The most likely answers would seem to be the CPU is broke or your machine does not support it.

did you update your bios to the latest version?

Can you describe what happens when you put the T9500 in and turn it on?

My Vaio is SZ780E (CTO), which features Intel T8300 Penryn CPU (800 FSB) on intel 965 chipset.

T9500 should work with this lappy, and some other SZ7 have this CPU.

Did you make sure to lock the processor in the socket?
You need to turn the screw on the socket to the lock position for the processor to be recognized.

Otherwise, a BIOS update will most likely fix your problem.
