Hi. I am new to this forum. Stumbled across when searching for the above query.
Though regarding my query I have found negative views on net but wanted to get some points clarified.
    I have a dell 1525 with Xp
    Core2duo T5800 @ 2.00GHZ
    2 GB DDR2 @332 GHZ Ram
    Intel GM965 chipset
    Intel integrated GMA X3100 graphics
Plus there are 3 internal card slots for mini card ( here)

My basic requirement is playing 1080p movies in mkv(i think its .x264) as they start stuttering. So I was thinking for a graphics upgrade.
    I have a few questions

    1. I read somewhere that 1525 used to come with some nvidia 8400 card. So can't I buy that now and install it.
    2. Can't a graphic card(mini) be installed in the 3 internal card slots. I had opened my laptop to clean the heat sink, and saw 3 open wires where some card could be attached.
    3. As per intel website, shouldn't x3100 be able to play H.264 1080p content? I have tried VLC, klitecodec pack, cccp, zoom player but video starts lagging behind. And cpu usage while running the video never exceed 65%.
    4. Also the above link says 'support through software'. how can get the software.

    Thanks
    Mohit

    1. only by replaceing the entire motherboard.

2: NO, you can use a VIdock or DIY Vidock to run an external monitor but not add a video card to the mini PCI slots like you would a desktop

3: it should, but every system can be different. also how clean is your windows XP install and what all software do you have running in the background such as antivireus etc. also did you use the new VLC player? and have you tried Media Player Classic with the CCCP codec pack? as it is about the lightest on system resources

also are you streaming it from a local hard disk or an external connection?

Thanks for a quick reply. I have a couple of querys.
What does VIdock or DIY Vidock mean.
And I used latest vlc player, also tried MPC with cccp, played from local hard disk. I have no viruses(I am pretty good at cleaning viruses manually) or a antivirus program. Then shouldn't it run. And my cpu usage is also not above 65%. And here it says support through software. What does that mean. And can it be XP which is creating problems
    Thanks a lot
Hoping for some hope to play 1080p videos!!
