Okay...so I currently have an order for the 2407, but I'm starting to reconsider as Dell is probably going to delay my order. I'm worried a little bit about 1080p support (which seems to be non-existent on the Dell, but GW claims it). I'm also aware of the banding problems that even the current revision of the 2407 has, when not using the Desktop mode on the monitor (media and gaming modes have several problems).

So, has anyone heard much about the GW monitor and how well it performs compared to the Dell? Any problems? I originally didn't consider it because of the price, but then I realized that GW dropped the price to $579...$10 more than the 2407FPW.

    Stuff I'm looking for:
    Decent desktop display quality
    1:1 mapping required
1080p support preferred, but 1080i required
HDCP for some high definition resolution (2407 claims up to 720p, the 2485 claims 1080p)
No current banding issues (at least in one mode or a workaround proven to solve the issue)

I've heard that the Gateway HD monitors are very good. They have the farujah(sp) chip.

That chip was also known to be the cause of some of the 2407WFP's issues...though it appears it is fine on the GW .

I had the opportunity to see the GW monitor today at BB...and it is good, but there was a little graininess in the image...I'm not too sure why, or how to fix that. The monitor also ran really hot.

Weird about the monitor running really hot.

Anandtech has a review of this. They essentially said that between this and the WFP2407, you can't go wrong.
