I got a dell 9300 converted to the XPS in a trade a while back... It appears the 6800 ultra has died/is dying... sometimes I can get an image for a few minutes before it's gone again... I've hooked it up to my LCD and it does the same thing, so it's not my laptop lcd.
Anyways, I don't wanna sink $200-300 putting another 6800 or 7800 in this thing... was thinking of throwing a cheap X300 32mb in here, but I know it has the modded bios, and wanted to make sure it would work?
Also, the X300 only has one heatpipe, will i just have a empty hole where the 2nd heatpipe to my 6800 ultra is? lol

If it's from a dell laptop such as the precision M20, then it should work.
I think you should use the heatsink and fan from the GO6800 on the X300. The Preision M20 has only one FAN and two heatpipes which overlape so the fan can cool both of them at once. I noticed that even when the undervolted CPU is idle, the fan kicks in every now and then.
This is to say, even with AS5 the X300 is quite Hot. Hence try not t modify the cooling system of the 6800 an use it as it is. -
cool thanks... i found an X300 for $30 with free shipping... the laptop has only been used for browsing the web, and office applications, so it should be fine
Dell 9300 converted to XPS, can i still use an X300 32mb?
