Hi, ive been having a rather annoying grinding sounds coming from my fan recently.
Its only when the fan goes into it's higher speed setting.
Does anybody know if i need to replace my fan?

btw, i really dont like the idea of sending it in for repair, as i rely on the laptop for day-to-day use.

    Thanks

you should be able to purchase a replacement fan from dell spare parts. if you're comfortable replacing it yourself, go for it. dell has extensive and detailed instructions on how to disassemble your computer

Getting a new fan might be an uncecessary measure. The best thing to do is to buy a can of compressed air from your local electronics retailer, take the keyboard off, and give your motherboard, and especially the fan areas a generous spray to get rid of any dust that is clogging up vents.
