Just received a new D630 from Dell, ordered with the Nvidia Quadro NVS 135m graphics card, and it shows up in the device manager as such. The question I have is regarding the chipset. From what I understood, the GM965 chipset featured the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and the PM965 allowed for a discrete graphics card such as the NVS 135m. Well, the Intel chipset ID utility says that I have the GM965, when I thought I should have the PM965. Am I not understanding this correctly? Can someone clarify? Thanks in advance.

Here is a link to the 965 chipset family data sheet, it is a pdf. The long and the short is the PM is the performance the GM is the mainstream. The PM only comes with discrete graphics the GM can come with either. Have a read as like most "technical" documents not written well in the sense of flow and continuity. I had to read more than once to comprehend that yes the GM does support discrete and the PM does not support integrated. Trust me or have fun reading.

In all reality, their performance is going to be nearly identical.
