So I've been in the market for a new laptop to replace my D820, and after awhile I discovered that my 820 actually meets all of the criteria that I'm looking for a new laptop, with the exception of the CPU and bluetooth module. So if I upgraded the CPU, picked up a bluetooth module, and then perhaps replaced the battery just for good measure, I'd be in pretty good shape. I already have 4gb of RAM and a 160gb 7200 rpm drive in it.
How can I determine what CPU's my 820 will support? I currently have a Core 2 Duo 1.67ghz.
What's a good vendor to buy laptop CPU's from?
Also, does anyone know if it's possible to purchase a new keyboard? Mine is pretty worn out and if I end up using my laptop money on 820 upgrades instead, than a new keyboard would be a nice addition to round out the new car smell.

The D820 has the older Core 2 Duo processors...I'd recommend the T7200/T7400/T7600 processors...whichever is best in price/performance.
Keyboards can be gotten from Dell, probably $20-30 no problem. Easy to replace, but you have to be careful. -
EBAY is where i buy all my processors from.... vendors want too much money for a box and a warranty.....
new dell keyboards can also be found on ebay,, as can dell bluetooth modules

I am also in the market for upgrading my processor on my D820, will the Intel T9400 2.5Ghz processor fit the Dell laptop?
-
Nope. You need Socket M Core 2 Duos.
Checkout the CPUs in this guide. -
The T7600 is the top CPU for that laptop (Core 2 Duo 2.33ghz). You can add a Dell bluetooth 360 truemobile unit as well. The laptop takes up to 4gb RAM. I used to have that laptop and upgraded it to the maximum specs it could handle which is exactly as I just mentioned above. It is a really good laptop, even by today's standards.
