    Hey, I have a Dell E1705 with the Nvidia 7900 GS graphics card installed. Around the web I have seen a few articles about updating the graphics card on the E1705 but the upgrades seem to be to variations on the 7900/7950 card and were written years ago.

    Does anyone know if there are any graphics cards that are newer/faster that would be compatible with my laptop (even if they possibly require a few case modifications)?

    There E1705 review tells us you have an expresscard slot. So consider a DIY ViDock as explained in http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/418851-diy-vidock-experiences.html . The lspci output on a E1705 suggests you have:

    port2 = mPCIe wifi
    port4 = expresscard

    In which case consider a $200 GTS450 or $220 GTX460 setup.
