    I have a Dell E2414H.

I have been connecting it to my Sager listed below for a couple years via a DVI-miniDP cable. I have two cables and both cables work.

I just purchased an Aero 15 (LOVE), and when I plug the monitor into the miniDP port there the computer doesn't recognize it. This nonrecognition happens with no other devices plugged in, and even booting with monitor plugged in.

I have a second monitor that I can successfully connect to the Gigabyte via miniDP.

Any ideas? This laptop is brand new, recently released, I would suspect drivers to be up to date?

Drivers are not necessarily up to date (always manually check, confirm and update as necessary).

That older monitor may be missing something (hardware, etc.) that the newer Aero depends on (just a thought...)?

At the very least; buy and test with a new, quality cable (or two - different brands/types).

What is the difference between your monitors? Are they giving any hints of why one would work and the other not?

well, the other is a nice Nixeus with twice the cable options. The DP cable connected to the Nixeus is higher bandwidth. I did go ahead and order a DVI to HDMI cable, should work more reliably.

Yes, I understand. But the more I thought about the whole conundrum, I needed to go that route anyways. You see, me Nixeus has the higher refresh rate, and the DP port I know supports that. So we're good.

    Thanks for your help.
