    Some Dell notebooks come with an HSDPA adaptor and seem to be tied into Vodafone. Are they tied in, or can they be used on any network?

    The HSDPA adaptor can be used on any wireless/broadband/wired network. All HSDPA is, is a new protocol for internet downloads and such.
    You will be able to use any network which you want. Having HSDPA only gives one marginal advantage if you are downloading a ton of files from a single server.
