    Hi,
I recently got a second hand Inspiron 1000 series notebook and wanted to know if it's possible to upgrade the RAM?

The Crucial website says that the max amount for the notebook is 512, but that the 256 it comes with is non-removable?! How do I add that elusive last 256...? I was going to replace the 256 stick with a 512 stick but if it's [allegedly] unremovable..?

It only has one slot which seems to be partially covered with a metal plate (presumeably this is the non-removable bit).
