Hi, everyone, I went to visit a friend last week who has a Dell Inspiron 1520 (just like I have), but unlike me, he's got a T7300 processor on the laptop.
The strange thing that I noticed is the difference in noise of the two notebook's cooling fans. Now my question is: Is the fan on the 1520 with T7500 processor by any means different than the one on the 1520 with the T7300 processor?
Mine (the T7500 one) some kind of a hum coming from the fan's motor, which I couldn't hear at the T7300 one...just the hot air being blown out.

I doubt, they both have 35W TDP so no need and easier to produce with interchangeable parts. Maybe your fan works a little harder? Do you have the same GPU's? HDD's? Has it always made the noise or something new.

Just download a copy of I8KFANGUI, and you wil be able to use software to control the fans on your dell laptop.
You can turn the fans on or off, and you can monitor your temperatures.
This program works on almost all dell laptops.

Try to keep th etemps under 140F and you should be good.

I tested the speed of the fan of both notebooks with that program and both were spinning at 2500 RPM. They both have the 8600m GT video card, but mine has a 7200 rpm hdd, while his laptop has a 5400 rpm hdd, but I don't see how would this affect the fan because the hdd is cooling pasively, it doesn't depend on the fan
