Hi my friend recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a Intel Gma X3100. He was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the graphics card at a later time.

Intel Gma X3100 is soldered onto the motherboard. No upgrade available.

Would it be possible for him to add another graphics card to it. As far as i know the laptop also had the option of with a Nvidia 8400gm. Could he get one of these and put it in?

The x3100 is built into the motherboard so it cannot be removed and there is so slot for extra graphics card. It is actually VERY hard to upgrade graphic cards in laptops anyway if the graphic card is dedicated like the 8400GS.

A Mobo swap might be possible.. but it would be costly and it may void your warrenty.

No, its intergrated in the motherboard and cannot be removed or upgraded. If he hasnt gotten it yet, try cancelling the order and getting something better. But i belive that is all the 1525 offers (last i checked)
