Lately the HDMI input on my Dell Inspiron 1564 seems to be broken. Any screen connected to it randomly connects/disconnects/flickers. Tried different cables, different screens, different drivers, all had the same problem.

This seems like a great excuse to upgrade the motherboard a little bit. Currently it comes with the integrated Intel HD. I know that these have s/n: 0F4G6H. I'm looking for a board that has a HD5450 integrated on it.

This laptop also got sold with HD4330(512MB) and HD5450(1GB) GPU's. I tried googling but the only other s/n I can come up with is 04CCPK. It isn't clear if these are the 4330 or the 5450 boards. I even asked a few eBay sellers and they couldn't answer.

Did Dell sell these under the same s/n? Or is there a s/n that I completely missed? Also, a good source to buy this board from will be greatly appreciated.

PS: I know I'll need a new heatsink, I even know that it probably won't give me much of an upgrade, but rather a small upgrade than a sidegrade to fix this 1564.

Mods: If this belongs in the Dell section, feel free to move, I wasn't really sure where to post  .

Thanks to an eBay seller I found out a bit more about these boards. Turns out the board with s/n 04CCPK are HD4330's. So what is the s/n for the HD5450 board?

    • Intel HD: 0F4G6H
    • ATi HD4330: 04CCPK
    • ATi HD5450: ??????

If anyone owns a Dell Inspiron 1564 with an HD5450, the s/n can be found at(under) the RAM slots. Another way is using the Service Tag at Dells site I think.

I'll be mailing Dell support now, but I guess they won't be willing to give me the s/n but rather try sell me a whole new laptop. But worth a try!

I don't think you can use the motherboard with the ATi HD4330, I'm pretty sure that was only for the 1545.

Well these 04CCPK boards are sold on eBay, Description says they are for the 1564. Also comparing the picture of the product to the board I have sitting here. They match up (except for the ATi chip). Also, in the specification list there's mention of a "ATi M92-LP 512 MB DDR3" which should be the HD4330. The "ATI Park 1 GB DDR3" should be the HD5450. But I will look into the 1545 as I really have no clue how it looks like  .

And thanks for PM'ing this person, how could I forget to search for owners of these boards on here .

Apparently Dell Belgium doesn't want any mail at all. They ask for a plugin to installed before mailing them, which of course doesn't work.

    Update

I mailed back and forth a bit with Dell, they're not wanting to give me any part number :( what a helpful bunch of people...

I still hope to come by the part number for the Dell 1564 motherboard with the HD5450 IGP.

It appears the only way to get the part number is to look under the RAM sticks, there should be a sticker there.

    Also, BUMP!
