Hi,
I have a dell inspiron 1720 that has a 120gb hard drive. I would like to add an additional hard drive but this laptop has a hard drive connection I have never seen before, and the current drive is plugged into a casing that then plugs into the laptop...
where do I find this piece so I can add another drive, and seriously what the hell was dell thinking?

Just go on eBay and search, "Dell 1720 hard drive connector". They're like $4.

hah, ok, I did that, I am guessing that I want one that shows a picture of the caddy and the connector, not just the connector right? Or can I just get the connector and that would be ok? Seems to me like I would need the caddy part too.

You'll need both the caddy and the connector. Make sure it's for your exact model; 'Dell 1720' could be for a Vostro which is very different.

Thank you both for the help!
Dell Inspiron 1720 additional drive - piece needed?
