I am in awe of my Old Trustful. (see sig)...
Just ripped out a 4gig nand and put in a fancy modern msata 60GB Kingston. -She runs like a kitten being belly-rubbed.
This old workshop computer, used heavily daily and heavily messed with... ...it supports the msata ssd. Bwahaha. -Happy.

Alot of older laptops are still running if one does take the time to keep them running. I got Gateway P series and HP Dv4,5,6 Dell 1525 still working. They aren't game machine but they work-the P-series and M1730 are the gaming rigs I currently have going.

I have installed Crucial MX300 128GB SSD drive into my Inspiron 1720 6 months ago. Works fine even though disk is SATA3 and laptop is only SATA2 capable. Laptop will be 10 years old this summer and with 1920x1200 screen, 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD still runs very well.

Even if it is SATA 1, the responsiveness will be so much better even if transfer speeds are only slightly higher then a 7200rpm drive... And that's why, SSD's will always be my pick for an OS drive :D

I am aware, there's alot of bad info about the 1720/1700 so I'm trying to stop more bad info from going around. Also my 7200 RPM drive has the same sustainted xfer at SATA I, 100 MBs, but adds have a better random and response time. I have 2 Micron C400s as my SSds with Mint on one and windows on the other
