*Im gonna state up here that Im also looking for more info on HD400/630m confusion if anyone has it*

So Im looking into returning this satellite with trinity A-10 I just bought because I find the day I buy it that toshiba disabled the AMD-V features of the hardware.... rediculousness in itself, but not the point of this thread but getting that out there too.....

Im looking into getting this dell Inspiron 17R (i17R-1579sLV)

    Some specs:

    Intel Core(tm) i7-3632QM
    Microsoft Windows 8
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    1TB 5,400RPM Hard Drive
    Blu-ray Player
    8-in-1 Memory Card Reader
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M
    Intel Centrino Wireless 2230
    Bluetooth 4.0
17.3" High Definition+ WLED with Truelife

Youll notice the GPU is listed to be a NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M. THE PROBLEM IS that theres complaints and reviews popping up everywhere that people are getting HD4000 GPU's instead. In one review on newegg the customer is saying that dell claims that it was a newegg error, but when I go to look at all the other sites it says the same thing for specs and that its including the 630m. If Dell is blaming the ONE site then why do all the other sites have the same "error"?

Im here asking this because there is so much false advertising out in this new world of electronics (Some of my other immediate frustration points to HTC and their sorry excuse for a phone that is bug infested OneX and the software for it, different matter...) Companies need to stop paying so much attention to whos winning the race and pay attention to they are doing and putting out there.

Like this toshiba incident why make a computer with all the bells and whistles if you cannot actually access them? Where does it say on the box or in the manual "Hey we have all this great new product buuuuut your not able to use it in this machine."

Or this new Dell-ema..... Both companies have removed the products from their websites for the most part but it shouldnt have come that far in the first place..

Is there not a governing body to control this garbage???? Like the FDA handles their market? (yes very different market, but this is getting out of hand)

Anyways if youve made it through this far and have any info on whether or not to expect a HD4000 or a 630m please respond.

    Thanks.

*TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT*
On my HP DV6-7000 I have the GT630M AND HD4000. When I'm not in intensive apps (like web browsing) the PC says it's using 4000 but when I'm gaming it says I'm using GT630M graphics. It does this due to switching graphics to save power. If I were you, I would buy the laptop and if it isn't what it says then legally they have to take it back :p

After more searching thats what I found someone to be saying also. I dont really understand the idea here. If you run a hardware check it shows the HD 4000 apparently? but has much better graphics potential in it? I could maybe guess power consumption? But it just seems strange to me. why have 2 gpu? or is the hd4000 an on board type?

Im really not too experienced in the laptop world yet. Desktops more so.

HD4000 is integrated in the CPU, every newer Intel CPU, desktops or mobile. It is usually used on battery to save power. Or in general to reduce power and heat. The dedicated card activates only with games or other 3D apps. Sometimes you have to manually activate the dedicated card because it doesn't properly detect te 3D app but 99% of the time it does fine.

Ok, yeah thats about what I read from the one review. I dunno, there was just a lot of funny business trying to get answers on this subject.

    I appreciate your guy's feedback.

Im having trouble finding more info on the trinity A10 toshiba disable subject. Do you know anything about that? I think it said that 3d vision was completely disabled. (And frankly the screen looks kinda of terrible. It looks good enough from straight on but you can see it "scramble" like and old tube tv on a blank channel at slightly off viewing angles.)

GT 630M is not Kepler, better off finding a different laptop that has at least a GT 640M or higher.
