Hello, I was hoping I could get some help with my laptop. It's a Dell Inspiron 17R SE (7720). I've got a 1 Gb/s down/up speed and just recently realised that the reason I wasn't getting this was because this laptop has a 100/100 maximum connection on it. I saw that it was possible to change the lan port, although does anyone know where I can find the upgraded part for it (if it exists), i.e. one that fits this laptop and has a possiblity to reach 1Gb/s speeds? Also, would changing the lan port (I do use an ethernet cable with gigabit capabilities) be all that's needed to change the maximum internet speed? I've got an instructional guide that shows how to do the procedure, so I'm fine with that. I'm currently residing in Sweden, so purchases within Europe would be the best.

Also, on a side note, I'm thinking of getting another internal hard-drive, anyone got any good ones to recommend? Would prefer ones that are 1 TB+ as it's just needed for the space. Also, is there anywhere I can find which dimensions it needs to be, or are they all the same size?

    Thank you

Where did you see that it was possible to change the LAN port? As far as I know all of the LAN components are fully integrated and cannot be replaced. Your best bet is probably a USB3 ethernet adapter.

I'm pretty certain this doesn't change the NIC itself, just the daughterboard with the physical ports.
