i just purchased a Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 ATI x1400 256mb Radeon video card for my laptop. I took my laptop apart piece by piece come to find out that the video card was too big. The screw holes align up perfectly...but the original video connection gets in the way. Now, keep in mind that this is the recommended upgrade for my Dell inspiron 6400. So, what am i missing. Is it something I'm doing wrong or what?

Did you have the x1300 before, or the integrated graphics. If you had integrated graphics, the x1400 is not compatible. If you have the x1300..It should fit..Hmm

I have the integrated graphics. The seller from ebay gave me the impression that it would work but I guess not. So, i guess the integrated graphics onboard is not upgradeable? Anybody need a video card? :)

Nope, they use different motherboards so you can't upgrade. Repost!

You can buy the upgradable motherboard for less than 80$ on ebay...

I saw it once for 25$

Watch ebay each once and a while and see if there is a deal like that.

I think everything is relatively possible if you got the means and knowledge.

There is a member in the forums who made some interesting video upgrades to some laptops... his name is Ice- Tea I think

here is a link about an interesting upgrade I found somewhere else
