    Hi, Guys
I'm going to be buying a new notebook here shortly. Waiting for the right bargain and I'll have to wait til they build it. But in the meantime I need to have one to use so I opted to repair my Dell Inspiron 8000. It was working fine until the flex cable going to the LCD broke. And it had some other needs so I bought a used flex cable on eBay and a new keyboard, AC adapter, and a few screws. Total cost $79. :) Anyway, finally got everything but when I put it together the colors on the screen are really washed out and it's really bright and the mouse pointer moves really slowly. Not sure what's going on. I'm going to try it in safe mode in a minute here. I'm at the library. Also when I use it with an external monitor it works fine so I guess it's not the video card. Any thoughts? Thx. :)

Looks like you need a new graphics driver
As far as the mouse goes, go to control panel, and then under mouse/pointing devices you will be able to change the speed of the mouse pointer.

Thanks for the response but I dont think that's it. The card works fine with an external monitor and the mouse pointer is Realllllllllly slow and kind of fades in and out as you move it. You'd have to see it. But thanks for trying to help. May have to bite the bullet and pay a bit more and go ahead and buy the new laptop. I'm looking at an HP dv9700t. They have a sale on now but had a better one that I just missed. The one on now ends on Tuesday so they'll probably have a different one after that but then I may lose some of the offers available now. You know how that goes. (Now I just looked and some of the extra offers are already gone. One I had configured for $1493 is now $1623). I'll mess with this old one a bit more and see if I can figure it out. Thanks again.
BTW, one more thing is when I tried to run it in safe mode yesterday it would just bring up a long list of prompts from the Windows sys32 folder and then just recycle itself to the reboot process and never did get into the desktop even in safe mode.
