My Dell Inspiron 8200 was a great, albeit somewhat heavy, laptop. Before I recycle it, I wanted to ask about this problem that's sending it out the door.

The laptop only runs when it's plugged into the docking station/port replicator. When the plug-in is plugged in directly to the computer the laptop won't stay running.

I read awhile back that the problem is the motherboard and how it charges the battery. Has anyone else seen this problem? My fear is that if the motherboard is faulty, then it could stop working at some point in the future even if it's in the docking station.

Any ideas as to if it's worth replacing the motherboard or if I should just grab the parts and scrap the rest?

    THANKS!
