    I have a 1420 and want to upgrade the processor. Can I use the p9700 in it? I currently have the t7800 2.4g.

    1420 houses the GM/PM965 which should support all 800 FSB Core 2 Duo processors. Did you mean a T7800, T8700 does not exist. Not really worth upgrading to anything except maybe an X9000. T9x00 aren't worth it, more "cache" and "speed" only yield higher performance in synthetic benchmarks and rendering, nothing in real world use and gaming.

    T7800-2.6 is IDA capable. Try running dualIDA which would get you a 2.8Ghz overclock. Otherwise a T9500-2.6 is the fastest C2D you can put into your Santa Rosa notebook. It commands a price premium. A T8300-2.4 or T9300-2.5 is better value.
