    G'day.
Because I've been a good boy and have done a few painful dressing changes on my back, mummy said she would buy me some stuff, so I told her I WANT a "The Big Bang Theory" Laptop Skin. And also a 4GB Ram Upgrade :)

Which type of ram do I need for my laptop(in sig)? Will I get the full 4GB or only 3.? I cant remember. anyway, I am running a 32-bit version of Vista Business.

    Cheers.

D620 only will give you around 3.4GB usable (chipset limitation, not OS). You can use DDR2-667, anything more is a waste unless you are getting it cheaper.

cheers, i was thinking of just getting a 1gb stick + a 2gb stick, but its cheaper to get the 4gb kit. :S I would just use the 1gig already in my computer, but its in 2 512mb sticks.

Does the brand actually matter though?

Not always but it can. Generic modules can be of a lower quality than a company like OCZ/Kingston/Crucial would accept.

Ah, righto, so should I look for a kit that actually states a brand?

Depends on what you plan to do with your RAM. If you just plan to use it like normal, then it's probably not worth the trouble. Just make sure whatever you get has a lifetime warranty. If, on the other hand, you plan to overclock or otherwise play with your RAM settings, then you're better off getting branded RAM, as you're more likely to get the higher quality chips you'd need to get the extremes you want.

Well, generic RAM for me proved to be a headache, but I returned it with no problems. It kept BSOD'ing because the RAM timings were set all wrong. They were just really not stable. Never had that problem with kingston/PNY/samsung..
