I ended up with the 720p screen on my new E5530 and don't think I can get used to it. I have replaced Dell laptop screens with higher res on older models but not something this new. I have seen a few places selling the panels but they say the 1080p and 720p is different. Does anyone know if the panel can be a direct swap on this computer? Nice computer but I need moar pixles!!!

    Thanks!!!

I did this on my Thinkpad L430 with no issues (went from 1366x768 -> 1600x900). It was a smaller resolution than what you are going for but the principle is the same. Both panels (768 & 1080) both use a 40 pin connector and both have an LED backlight. I found a website that will allow you to buy the screen in either glossy or matte if you would like me to link it. I have purchased from them before with no issues.

Here is what the connector looks like on both panels:

I'm fairly certain you can (or could) configure an E5530 with a 1080p screen, so as long as you find the right panels, it should work. You may or may not need to change the display cable as well.
