    Hi, I have a Dell E6320

IM not sure if its a SATA II or III Machine but I was wondering if there is any other way to get SATA III Speeds on this machine.
I only need about 32gb to 64gb which is enough for the operating system, its only the programs and operating system I would like to run at those full speeds.

    Dell E6320
    ----------------
    Intel Core i5
    Intel QM67
    4gb ram
1 Express Card 34mm (I could use this to get USB3 Speeds for my external drives)
    1 eSata
DVD +/- RW Double Layer ( drive can be taken out and fitted with a caddy for another HDD, my choice!)

Once this machine arrives I will find out if it can do 6Gbps Speeds, I think not sadly.

    Thanks for any help

Do you have it? Or, are you getting it?

I do think it is fully SATAIII compliant though (at least for the main drive bay). I'd be very surprised if it's not.

    Good luck.

With an SSD, even if you get stuck with SATAII speeds - you should still be very, very happy with the system (responsiveness-wise).

    Cheers!

You'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference between SATA II and III unless you do some specialized work that depends on constant read/write speeds - in which case I'd imagine you use something more powerful than an E6320.

I agree with tiller and Charles on the SSD. The important thing with SSDs are the random access times and random I/O, not the sequential read/write. And in random access and I/O, SSDs >> HDDs all the time, any time.

Hell, I can certainly tell the difference between SSD/HDD in my X61t, which is limited to SATA I! Can't tell much of a difference between that and my W520's (SATAIII) SSD, though most of the time I use my laptops, I'm not transferring large files (GB size) between similar SSDs or within the same SSD (which is where seq read/write come into importance).

That Middleton's BIOS is also for the X61t though?

Hi, Thanks for all your help

The Laptop Arrived and has a SATA 6Gbps SSD inside, Hd Tune tested speeds around 300mbps I think, So I presume that's not the full speed of the SSD
Of course like mentioned this speed is fast enough and perhaps Speed is not an issue :D

The Bios mode is set to RAID.

    Cheers
