    Hey everyone,

Got a pretty common problem, though I just wanted to run down the list of possible problems with you to make sure I'm going about this the right way.

Today I did a shut down of my M6600. Rebooted a minute later but now my laptop screen no longer turns on, its not detected or anything in the device manager.

It does however work with an external monitor. I've reinstalled drivers, tried system restores, pulled out the battery and held the power button, typical troubleshooting stuff.

I'm going to try a system image restore tomorrow when I get back to my apartment but besides that I seem to be out of ideas on the software front. Anything I missed that it could be?

On the hardware side, it could be that the screen has jsut gone bad. It seems odd since it worked perfectly and then just wouldn't turn back on. It's my leading canadiate for what went wrong though.

The GPU seems fine since the external monitor is still working fine.

Any thoughts? Thanks for the help

It's not unheard of for a panel to just go black... probably what it is. Call up Dell and have them replace it for you. :)

Could also be the cable connecting the display to the motherboard. Regardless, it's time to take advantage of that next business day warranty.

PM me the Service Tag and I will quickly check if Dell took off any Exchange holds on the machine and get the warranty transferred to you. I personally never had that severe of an issue with my M6600's in my possession so this is a new one...
