Well I tried to flash to the A11 bios from A10 and it failed. Now when I turn on my laptop it delays for about 3 seconds, then the media keys light up normally, then volume keys blink. Keyboard backlight turns on and nothig happens. Then backlight becomes brighter and system turns off. The cycle repeats if I try to turn it on.

I have a tech coming to give me a new mobo but is there a DYI way to do it? I need my laptop out of paperweight mode asap

I don't think that you can do anything .. you'll just have to wait for the tech to replace your motherboard...

If it is Phoenix BIOS here is a guide.
The key to initialize bootblock recovery could be different from Acer though.
Other key Combo you can try Fn+B or WinKey+B

Where can I get the Dell BIOS? Dell CS is refusing to give it and Phoenix Technologies' website sucks balls.

Apparently the BIOS is by Phoenix.

I don't understand. If you were flashing the bios, wouldn't you already have the bios? Also in the support section of dell.com you can get the bios for your laptop.

From Dell I got an .exe ... I thought BIOSes are supposed to be some other kind of file, like .wph or .bin?

Open Command Prompt cd (Change directory) to the folder
I hope you know how to use Command Prompt...
For example if the executable is called A11.exe
    Do this:
    C:\Users\{Your Directory containing the executable}>A11.exe /writeromfile
It will automatically generate the A11.wph which is the original BIOS.

Call Dell and ask for a mobo replacement. Also ask for a RAM replacement because apparently that was the problem for me.

BIOS updates might check for RAM, and if RAM is damaged when shipped, it might freeze the update.
