I have a studio 15 but was just wondering if it was possible to upgrade the video card on it. I know some studio 15s come with HD 3450. Is it possible to do this or are the HD 3450s built into the motherboard? I am laptop noob, Thanks

No thats the best card it can get.Just buy a desktop barebone and buy seprate high end parts for it.

I am pretty sure the 3450's are soldered right to the motherboard, so you will not be able to upgrade the graphics card.
You can upgrade the cpu, memory, harddrive if you wanted to

I love this question lol because I always asked it anywayz there was whole thread based on this question. Its possible to upgrade it but to find a compatable graphic card is a problem. Its not really soldered. Its epoxy which you can get out.
In conclusion its possible but finding the RIGHT bios and the right gpu it would work. THE hd 3450 is a 64 bit bus which is terrible.
Can anyway tell me if the whats the difference between 64 bit bus and 128+ besides speed. And if my gpu chip fully use the 256mb of dedicated video memory when in games? -
Where have you read that it's glued with epoxy? -
Its one one of these forums, give me a few minutes and I will indeed find it.

so new question. with the release of the studio 1555, do you think the graphics card would be similar enough to swap in? as much as I like my Studio 15, I wish it could push a little harder for some games. (nothing too big just a few Source engine games)
Dell Studio 15 Upgradable??
