Does anyone else have this problem? I am running the A05 BIOS, and the fan runs at maximum RPM, non-stop from the second I turn it on... however, whenever I lift the front of the laptop or incline the fan at an angle the fan stops spinning immediately. The system is running normally; there are no demanding apps running or high CPU usage. I checked the internals for dust, and everything was as clean as a whistle. The temperatures are around 25C for the CPU, so there is no reason for the fans to be running like this.
Any suggestion around this annoying problem is welcome; for now I will try the A02 and A03 BIOS versions.

I'm not certain, but it seems that DELL may have revised the BIOS for all notebooks to increase fan speed/duration. The nVIDIA nightmare could be to blame...but fans running 24/7 at full speed isn't the way to make customers happy! -
hey i dont see the problem, your system will always run cool, its like a built in i8kfangui.
Its better than having a laptop which gets too hot eh?
I guess if its loud and annoying, you can try reverting the Bios, but I would personally rather have the fans always on full

I downgraded to A03, then A02, then back to A05. None of the earlier versions fixed the problem, but now the problem is not so prevalent on this A05 BIOS. The fan still kicks in sporadically, though.

I had an HP dv7 that was a very different story, though. The fan ran non-stop at high speed and was very audible. It was very distracting most of the time and the left wrist rest and touch pad were still uncomfortably warm, despite the fan! I returned it for a refund after four days.
I wonder how submersion in dry ice would work for laptop cooling???
