Dell offers several wireless cards on their notebooks.
The two best ones (that are offered on the Inspiron 1420 and Vostro 1400) are as follows:
--Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Mini Card
--Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini Card
In terms of specs, both are the same. However, to anybody that has had any sort experience with these, I'd like to know if there's really any difference between the two.
Do they they differ in performance or they the same cards (technically) but under different brand names??
An oh yeah, these are the best cards available on the Inspiron/Vostro line, right? Or are some of the other ones better?
Thank You

I've haven't used either, but I would go for the Intel chip. They are more reliable make. I don't think they are the same. The Dell is a rebadged chip, from another manafacturer.

Im sure its nothing big, its like Walmart offering their own brand of purified water. unless you can find a spec sheet comparing the two and their capabilities, its doubtful one will achieve a greater range. You can always make a cantenna ;p

I´ve just found out that the most important diference is that with the Intel Wireless-N you´re gonna have a so called Centrino setup. That if you have the Santa Rosa chipset loaded with only Intel hardwares.
With the Dell Wireless-N you wont get the Centrino "sticker", wich is supposed to offer a better performance.
Greating,

The Centrino sticker simply means that your laptop has an Intel CPU, Intel network card, and an Intel chipset.
One would assume that the Intel network card would be more compatible with the Intel chipset, but I wouldn't think there would be too much of a difference. Go for whichever is the most cost effective I suppose. -
Why are there 2 active threads on this? see this thread for my opinion and many others. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=242098
