I've just bought a XPS 15 laptop to replace my old Inspiron and I need to get a charger to recharge it in the car when we go camping. Dell has a 90 watt charger for $90. But I really don't want to spend that much if I don't have to. I see ads for inverters but I don't know a thing about them. I am concerned that an off brand or generic charger might damage my laptop, so I'm asking for input from other owners on how they handled this problem. Thanks for any help. Jony

You can get a power inverter that plugs into the cigarette lighter port and you'll get 60+ watts output (depends on how much juice you need and how much you want to spend). Then you get the normal power plug ports so you can charge your laptop.

Or you can buy the Dell car charger (90 bucks doesn't seem that expensive considering it is an OEM part) vs 150 you'll spend on a quality power inverter.
