Hi. I am looking for a new wireless network card for my XPS XPS L702X. I would like to know if my computer is able upgrade to the 802.1.1AC wireless standard and have it work efficiently. Dell is of no use. My current card is the Intel Centrino Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150. It is ok but I am upgrading my wireless router and would like the AC format. I know the AC is backwards compatible but would like to get the most out of my machine even if an upgraded card only gets me 2/3 of the way closer to the AC standard. Also, I think my machine has 2 antennas and I have not been able to determine if this matters when converting to AC or not. Any card recommendations would be greatly appreciated also. Thank you.

    Hi!

I think you can. Intel, IMO, makes the best and most reliable WiFi chipsets. Take a look here: Intel® Wireless Product Selection Guide

We use the Half Mini Card, PCIe-based, and NOT THE FULL SIZE. See this disassembly guide to see the size (and also it's a great guide--used it 3 times!): http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...9-breakdown-xps-l702x-w-cleaning-repaste.html Two antennas is fine as even Intel's top card, the 7260, can only make/use 2 streams (read:antennas). It should just be a drop-in replacement with a driver update, if needed. I don't think Dell does anything weird to prevent that.

    Hi there.
Was wondering if you did the upgrade and if the card you choose worked?
Looking to swap my card for one with ac and wondering which card works best.
    Thanks,
