I just bought the Dell XPS M140 and noticed it has the newer 'express' card slot on the left. Can I use that to install a video card?

unfortunately.. you can't upgrade your video card on your notebook. ..or any of the 99% of the notebooks out on the market
here's what the slots are sometimes for...
TV tuner, networking cards, extra USBs... etc.

please read the expresscard guide in the guide section.

that blows, but thanks for the info! I just got rid of a 2 year old Toshiba running on a 40gb 5400 rpm hdd, and 512 mb of ram, with a 2.8 Celeron, the battery lasted for about 40 minutes MAX, and the thing was slower than dirt. I guess I can live with a much faster processor, and memory, and hard drive!
