So, if I wanted to upgrade the processor and somehow get a better video card, is it possible, and what are my options? Thanks

You can upgrade your processor to the fastest p-m (780? 2.26 GHz I think) but it's not worth it. You cannot upgrade your graphics card.

More memory and a faster hard drive will likely make more of a difference.

Why do you want to upgrade (what is slow)?

Nothing is really slow, just seeing if I could upgrade. But other than that, it is fast, plays the games I put on it and does everything else. ha

My suggestion is to just invest in a new notebook if you are feeling the need to. With new Dells running anywhere from 599-799$ new (that's not including any discounts) it's not worth it upgrading your old unit.

Plus, getting a new notebook means having two notebooks. You could use one for experimental purposes. (i.e., try out Linux, make it into a media center, etc.)

As posted, it's not a good idea to upgrade the machine any more. RAM is usually an inexpensive upgrade, and the hard drive is another practical component to replace, but beyond that and I would suggest forgetting about it. If the M140 does all you want, I'd say leave it alone.

If it does everything you want, save your money and wait till you're ready to buy a new laptop. If you are looking for an inexpensive upgrade, increase the memory. It made a big difference on my m140.

im trying to upgrade mine right now also but upgrading the memory didnt work i have 1.5 GB RAM and i hardly notice a difference running multiple programs like i do, i cant run my CD drive or media player and other programs, it came with the 80GB HD so i dont need another of those either can anyone help me? Im thinking of going to 2.2 over the 1.73 GHz processor i do alot of big programs like games, norton, media/video programs that use alot of (up to 99% in task manager) of my processes

Did you upgrade to 1.5GB of RAM or did you try and upgrade past that and it didn't work? If you could clarify what you mean by "didn't work" . . .

Also, what operating system are you running?

I'd suggest doing the following to make your machine run faster:
    -Defragment your hard drive
    -Uninstall unnecessary programs
    -Scan for viruses/adware

If you could give us the full specifications of your system that would be very helpful.

i had 512 MB RAM when i got the PC, i upgraded by adding another 1 GB DDR2 card to it so i have 1.5 now as in "didnt work" i mean i noticed a very minute change in my computer's speed it can run multiple programs better now but as far as running big programs like some games, and video programs or even some picture programs, everything runs slower
