    Hi.
I has recently bought my XPS M1530 after 1 month of research & compare between models from various brands.
But now I have a problem with it.
Funny & unusable Media Control Hotkeys, Specially about +/- Volume keys.
In the first encounter, None of them were working (Even with Excesive Force) & I was really dissappointed about it.
After hours, I realized about Plastic Protective Cover & remove it.
I was thinking the problem would be just that plastic.
But the keys were out of service even without plastic cover.
After a quarter manipulating with the FUNNY TOUCH :p SENSETIVE :p hotkey ;) It appeared that some of them had got up & started working. (but not touch sensetive, with a little force & effort)
After 5 days, the volume up & down keys are still dead, both of them have worked few times with excessive force, but absolutely UNUSABLE!!!

I wish Dell had not made them just funny more georgious TOUCH SENSETIVE one. I would be more content with healthy usable conventional push keys.

i agree with you... many a time beauty isnt just enough... the touch sensitive keys are sometimes very troublesome to use... however my lap doesnt have those stuff :)

i think the touch buttons on 1530 are capacitance based. it means it uses the small voltage of ur body to work. (the same is with the touch pad). so make sure ur body has no prob by asking someone else to try those switches :))

    You are certainly right.
Because while I'm killing myself to operate the volume +/- just one time & see its pretty blye light, my nephew can make it work. (but of course not easily)
    LOL

Sorry for bringing this back up. I realized that the touch sensitive panel was really hell to use. I really have to push hard to do anything. It gets annoying after a bit. Surely other people have this experience. Do other 1530 owners have the same experience or is my 1530 defective somehow?

By the way this should be moved to the Dell forum for more responses.

I have noticed that it has to do with the condition of your finger. Sometimes I have to wipe mine or rub it on something. The biometric reader is a different story. I can hardly get that to work.

It works the same way a touchpad works... Wiping off your finger occasionally should help.
