Hi guys, i have a screen inquiry.
I ordered my M1530 today, and i'm aware that in the past some users in the official review thread had screen issues. I've ordered the top of the line screen option for my laptop: 15.4" UltraSharp(TM) Widescreen WSXGA+ (1680x1050) TFT Display with TrueLife(TM).
I am very concerned with making sure the screen is a good quality one, which i have heard is the LG. Many people have said it's luck of the draw, but from past experience, do you think you could ring up and specifically ask for the screen to be LG, assuming they use LG and a different supplier.
Also, what should i be looking out for in the screen, in the case it is shotty and i do no not realise for lack of a comparison? Dead pixels? A grainy finish? Ghosting?
Thanks guys!!

I know from experience that you cannot actually request a specific screen.

I've had my XPS M1530 with the top of the line WUXGA Samsung screen for the last 6 weeks and been very pleased with it so far.
The screen resolution is superb, (just try comparing it side by side against lower res screens on any other laptop) although text can be a bit small for some eyes at the high resolution. It certainly has no sign of the graininess mentioned elsewhere on the forum (at least I can't see it, nor is it noticeable by friends I've asked and that's all that matters to me).
Question is are the screens supplied from different Samsung factories depending on whether they are going to Europe or the US?
The only downside is that the screen is quite reflective and if you try to use it in harsh ambient light or bright sunlight (not something we seem to suffer from too often here in the UK!) you have to make sure that you position the laptop too minimize any reflection from the screen. -
Groovy, thanks for the replies.
