I'm planing on buying a vostro 1500 with the cd writer/dvd player.
In a couple of years will I be able to upgrade that drive to a blu-ray player?
    -thanks

Yes. Notebook burners are standard modules. Most are a standard "slim" 1/2" (12.7mm) thick but there are a few that are super-slim 3/8" (9.5mm) thick. Read the Vostro 1500 parts replacement guide for how to remove / replace the optical drive.

Keep in mind also that you will need a good enough video card to play the HD content of a Blu-ray drive.

Yes I'm planing on configuring it with 2.0 ghz core 2 and 8600mgt. That should be sufficient, right?

And rep to both of you, thanks.
