Hello,
I was given a Dell latitude D800 but minus the hard drive. I've bought a Samsung HM160HC but when I have installed it the laptop does not recognise it and says there is no drive installed. Can anybody help please?
On boot up it says Primary hard disk drive 0 not found
Thanks, Ed

Unless you've got another laptop you can test it in, you're best course of action is to exchange it. Does the old drive still work?

Did you attach an adaptor to the end of the drive?

That little tiny black adapter is what you need. You can either order one online, or use the one that is currently attached to the hard drive in your Latitude D800.
The part is specific to Dell computers, so you will need to buy a Dell part... it is not a part that Samsung will be able to supply you. Although those connectors are so common, that you do not need to go through Dell to buy one - some place like eBay, or any of the computer parts stores on the internet that sell laptop replacement parts will be able to sell you one. -
Thank you, ordered from eBay for £2.48
