This is my first post on this site. I just found it yesterday after researching for a laptop, and there is a wealth of info here. I've been looking at the Toshiba laptops in the retail stores the last week or so and they seem to have very good screens. I'm also interested in the Dell 1520, but some of the reviews I've read have negative things to say about the LCD screen. Of course no place has Dell to compare the screens. Will the Dell 1280 X 800 screen on the 1520 be as good (e.g., bright/sharp) as what is on the Tosihiba 205 series laptops? Would the 1440 X 900 screen be even better? I don't want a laptop where you need to use a magnifying glass to read text, but I also do image editing & some video editing, and thought the higher res would be good for that. I have a 15" Dell ultrasharp LCD screen now with a resolution of 1024 X 768, and it seems about right, but I wasn't sure how that screen would compare to a laptop. Thanks for all your help.

Most of the 1280x800 screens are budget/entry-level...poor color production, not really bright, just low quality.
I would pay to upgrade the screen for sure, it's one of the few things I insist on.
